The Minister of Works and Transport Gen Katumba Wamala has directed the Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Airlines  Jennifer Bamuturaki to urgently submit her academic credentials to the parliamentary committee of Commissions Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises-COSASE.

Gen Katumba revealed this as he was responding to the concerns before the Members of Parliament- MPs on the committee about Bamuturaki’s appointment as the CEO of the Airline without credentials and even other top managers.

The Minister says he issued the directive on Wednesday after the meeting he had with Bamuturaki, ordering her to submit the entire academic credentials before the committee as per the demand.

Gen Katumba has also informed the COSASE that he has set up a six members committee comprising of two officials from each of the Ministry of Public Service, Works and Transport and National Planning Authorities to conduct an audit on human resource manual, salary structure of the employees and scrutiny of their academic qualifications and recommend on the way forward on the findings.

Furthermore, the COSASE chaired by Joel Ssenyonyi squeezed the Transport Minister for failing to advise President Museveni on his directive of Bamuturaki’s appointment as the CEO of Uganda Airlines without following the right procedure yet he is the supervising minister.

Gen Katumba replied that it would be irrespective to bog down his bosses’ directive being that the president has a prerogative to appoint or fire any civil servant as provided in the constitution,
