Police in Kawempe have four suspects in custody for raping and robbing a woman whose identity is withheld, at Kitambuza Zone in Kanyanya yesterday.
It is alleged that at about 12am, 2 panga wielding thugs broke into the home of a 23-year-old woman who stays alone, robbed and sexually assaulted her.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson says that upon receiving information, the Police at Kawempe working with the canine unit arrived at the scene with a sniffer dog which entered a structure at a distance of 250 meters from the crime scene that was harboring the four men who were later arrested immediately after the victim’s identification.
He says that the victim also able to identify the suspects by the clothes they were wearing during the incident and these including Joseph Katabi, Mike Sserwada, John Musana who was hiding inside the ceiling and another one only identified as Musunguzi.
Owoyesigyire further says that during the lawful search of their premises, the Police recovered knives, Pangas and suspected Narcotic substances and they are currently detained at Kawempe Police station.
The victim was robbed of money amounting to 850,000 shillings, a phone and a Laptop before they sexually assaulted her.
