Four of the commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission-IEBC have continued to distance themselves from the results of the Kenya Presidential Elections of 2022 that were announced by the commission Chairperson Wafula Chebukati on Monday evening.

Chebukati speaking from the BOMAS of Kenya in Nairobi City declared Deputy President William Ruto as the winner of the hotly contested presidential polls after he garnered a total of 7.1 million votes representing 50.49% of the total votes cast, beating his closest rival of Azimio la Umoja One Kenyan Coalition, Raila Odinga who got 48.85% of the vote.

Speaking to journalists from the Serena Hotel Nairobi, the deputy Chairperson of the IEBC, Juliana Cherera reiterated the final results as announced by Chebukati were opaque and “his own results”.

Flanked by her three other colleagues, Cherera says they have remained royal to the Oath they took and accused Chebukati of turning down their pleas to verify the results he was about to announce.

The Commissioners also claim that the final tally as declared yesterday adds up to 100.01%, where the excess 0.01% is equivalent to 142,000 votes, which is a clear indicator that the results were tampered with.

Meanwhile Chairman Wafula Chebukati has already gazetted William Ruto as President-elect of Kenya and his running mates Rigathi Gachagua as deputy-president elect in respect to Article 136 (1) of the Kenya’s Constitution.
