The former Buganda Premier Dan Muliika has pleaded to the former Leader of Opposition (LoP) Mathias Mpuuga to clear his name by quoting any law backing the said Sh500 million ‘service awards’ allocated to him.

This comes in the wake of a dispute between the Nyendo-Mukungwe Member of Parliament and Robert Kyagulanyi, the President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) in which Mpuuga belongs.

NUP advised Mpuuga to resign as a parliamentary commissioner on grounds that taking part into allocation of the impugned funds to him and three other commissioners was immoral and amounts to corruption.

Mpuuga however said he would not resign, arguing that he deserves to be rewarded for his two-year service as LoP and the said money was legal.

Muliika, while addressing the Journalists at his home in Bukoto today noted that Mpuuga should clean his name by showing clauses in any laws of this country that stipulate for his acquisition of such money.

Meanwhile, Muliika has warned the ongoing saga between Mpuuga and his party NUP to desist involving Buganda Kingdom into such.

Mpuuga has since described the claims as baseless and has rejected the calls to resign.
