Police in Kampala Metropolitan have issued a warning to foreign nationals to stop moving with bulk sums of money without the services of security agencies.

 

This follows an incident that happened on 2nd of November 2023 where a Chinese National Lin Shao was attacked by thugs who were travelling on Boda Boda and robbed him of two hundred million Shillings.

 

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson says that this incident happened along Martin Road in Kampala at around 6pm in the evening and Shao managed to stop the thugs by shooting at them five bullets but none of them was hurt and they escaped.

 

He says that Chinese nationals are more targeted due to their involvement in many businesses, hence warning them against moving with huge sums of money without the services of the security agencies.

 

Meanwhile, Police are also investigating a robbery incident that happened yesterday at Namungoona in Lubya, Rubaga division where gunmen attacked Fortbet Company and robbed 3 million shillings plus 8 mobile phones.

 

But Oweyisigire warned betting Companies that operate 24hrs against allowing boda boda riders to sleep within their premises because some are thugs
