Some Members of Parliament on the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party ticket have called on other democratic loving party members to shun the planned party elections scheduled for tomorrow under the stewardship of the Party Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi and Patrick Amuriat, the Party President.
Led by Kira Municipality MP who is also the FDC spokesperson, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda says that these elections are illegal before the convening of the party National Council sitting scheduled for July 28th 2023.
The MPs who included; Rubabo County MP Naboth Namanya, Kitigum Municipality MP Denis Omere and Buhweju County MP Francis Mwijukye allege that the sham elections are being sponsored by the ruling NRM, the Internal Security Organization-ISO and other opportunists who wish to witness the FDC party being handed over to the NRM regime.
They further say that even some areas where they are purporting to hold elections tomorrow have not received voting equipment thus calling on the Amuriat and Nandala faction to abandon their doctored and engineered elections.
Meanwhile, the MPs have also condemned today’s act by the FDC President Patrick Oboi Amuriat of kidnapping the party National Chairperson Amb. Wasswa Birigwa who had scheduled to address journalists at the party headquarters in the morning.
