FDC Elders Committee responds to Besigye on ‘dirty money’ report

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) elders committee has faulted the former party President Rt. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye for trashing their report.

The committee led by Dr. Frank Nabwiso was constituted after Dr. Besigye reported to the FDC National Council information that he had received information indicating that the FDC Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi had brought dirty money into the party from the State House.

The FDC Elders Committee Chairperson, Dr. Frank Nabwiso while addressing the media at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi noted that the statements made by Dr Besigye on their report was in bad faith aimed at discrediting them.

Nabwiso says Dr. Besigye would have called for another committee to conduct another probe into the matter if he was dissatisfied with their findings instead of speaking ill-words against their efforts.

In the same press conference, John Kikonyogo, the FDC Deputy Spokesperson also accused Dr Besigye for having been receiving and using the party money yet he was not the treasurer.

He added that the serial numbers Dr. Besigye talks about that helped him to confirm the said ‘dirty Money’ is not true since the money he returned to the party was not exactly the currency notes which was advanced to him.

Dr Besigye, one of the founding fathers of FDC, was close to tears on Monday as he dismissed the report by the Elders’ Committee into allegations of “dirty” money brought into the party saying that the investigations ignored the key question that he raised with the party concerning the “dirty” money and instead sought to reconcile him with Nandala.

Dr. Besigye explained that he has no personal grudges against Nandala, which needed reconciliation of the committee.

Addressing journalists at his People’s Government offices at Katonga Road, Besigye said that the report is not even worth the papers it’s written on.
