The Forum for Democratic Change – FDC has accused the government of mishandling the deadly Ebola outbreak in the country.

Addressing the media at their party headquarter at Najjanankumbi on Monday, the FDC Deputy Spokesperson John Kikonyogo said the Government has not provided enough Personal Protective Equipments -PPEs to the doctors which puts their lives at risk of contracting the disease, leading to the death of medical staff.

On Saturday President Museveni imposed a lockdown to the affected two districts; Mubende and Kassanda due to increased Ebola cases.

According to Kikonyogo, the government should have identified and locked the affected villages earlier in those districts instead of closing the whole districts which he says will affect people’s wellbeing and the candidates who are sitting for their final examinations.

He also reveals that the ministry of health is not doing enough to sensitize the public about Ebola. Many are reluctant or even don’t believe that the epidemic exists in the country.

Meanwhile, FDC suggests that the government should buy airtime on radios and televisions as well as put in place mobile vans that will go village to village sensitizing people about the disease.

On this not (FDC) has suspended planned party meetings with top leaders of the party living in districts of Kyankwazi, Kiboga and Mityana that was starting tomorrow 18th October because they pose a risk of danger since they are bordering Mubende and Kasanda that are under quarantine to control spread of Ebola.
