The Former leader of opposition in parliament Winnie Kiiza has asked Members of Parliament -MPs to choose a speaker who is very accommodative and tolerant.

Parliament is expected on Friday to elect a new speaker of parliament after the demise of the former Speaker Jacob Oulanyah who passed away on Sunday morning.

Kiiza says that parliament has lost Oulanyah at the critical time when there are many things dividing politicians and urged MPs to pick a speaker who will unite all sides of the house.

Kiiza has also described the late as someone who could work and relate with one regardless of their status.

The chairperson of the Electoral commission Simon Byabakama who also had come to pay tribute to the late, said that the late is someone who loved his country and has urged Ugandans to pick a thing or two from the late.

This Wednesday, the NRM Central Executive Committee is sitting to decide on the names of the members who expressed interest for the position that are currently 12 and tomorrow March 24th the NRM’s National Executive Committee will give the final seal on whom the party will front for the position of the Speaker of Parliament at the elections that will be held on Friday March 25th 2022 at Kololo Ceremonial grounds.
