Electoral Commission (EC) has released a roadmap for elections in the new Municipalities, Town Councils and Sub Counties that came into effect on the 1st of July 2017 with a budget of Uganda shillings 6.7billon shillings to be used.
The EC Chairman, Justice Simon Byabakama while addressing journalists at their offices along Jinja Road in Kampala, said that the programme starts on April 26th to July 19th 2018 when all elections will be completed in all the 45 districts where there are vacancies to be filled.
Byabakama adds that fundraising, use of abusive language among others electoral malpractices will not be entertained from both candidates and supporters to ensure smooth running of the process.
Some of the distrists where these elections are to take place are Kakumiro, Kamwenge, Ibanda, Kyankwanzi, Kaliro, Nebbi, Zombo, Mityana, Buikwe, Bugiri among others.
He upon all stake holders in the new Municipalities, Town Councils and Sub Counties to participate in all activities in accordance with the guidelines of by-elections.
