The Independent Electoral Commission (EC) has released the final summary of the January 14th 2021 Presidential Elections indicating NRM’s Yoweri Kaguta Museveni with his final tally increasing to over 6 million votes.

The results are as follows, Museveni got 6,042,898 (58.38%), Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu 3,631,437 (35.08%), Patrick Oboi Amuriat got 337,589 votes (3.26%), Mugisha Muntu 67,574 (0.65%), Norbert Mao 57,682 (0.56%), Henry Tumukunde 51,392 (0.50%), Joseph Kabuleta 45,424 (0.44%), Nancy Kalembe 38,772 (0.37%), John Katumba 37,554 (0.36%), Fred Mwesigwa 25,483 (0.25%) and Willy Mayambala who got 15,014 votes (0.15%).

Justice Simon Byabakama the EC Chairperson while releasing the results trashed allegations that the commission was releasing wrong results saying all these are done to tarnish the image of the country.

Byabakama adds that results from only 83 polling stations out of 34,601 polling stations were not added to the totals and only 54,357 registered voters from these 83 polling stations were not included due to various circumstances and their results could not make a difference between the winner and the first runner up.

Meanwhile, Byabakama has assured the public that the investigating agencies of the Police have started investigations into some situations that have been seen in videos on various social media platforms that show some security personnel getting involved in electoral malpractices like ballot staffing such that the country gets clear information on the matter.
