In preparation for the women council elections, the Electoral Commission has asked all women to register for the elections starting June 10th to 13th 2022 to be able them participate in the exercise.

 

The Chairman Electoral Commission, Justice Simon Byabakama while briefing the media at the Electoral Commission Offices has revealed that, the registration for these elections are free of charge and no academic qualifications are needed, only one has to be registered so long as she is a Ugandan of 18 years of age, with a national Identification Card.

 

Byabakama says any women to participate in this exercise should register starting from village level if she is to be allowed to participate in the elections at the upper level like, Sub – County and County levels among others.

 

He adds that all campaigns at village level are to start on June 4th to 6th 2022 and all participants in this exercise have to observe the standard operating procedures because covid-19 still exists.

 

The National Resistance Movement electoral commission has also released it’s roadmap for NRM primaries for women council committees’ country wide.

 

According to the chairperson of the NRM electoral commission Dr.Tanga Odoi, the verification of the NRM election personnel at village ,parish ,sub county and district level is expected to begin on June 6th  to 9th 2022, whipping NRM women during the compilation of the National EC village women register kicks off on June 10th to 13th this month, expression of interest and  nomination will be done on June14th to16th June , endorsement of NRM flag bearers  will be on June 22nd to 26th and  presentation of NRM flag bearers to National EC for nomination  will done on June 27th to Jule1st 2022.

 

Dr.Tanga Odoi also rubbished all allegations being circulated pining NRM to connive with the National Electoral Commission to use NRM register during elections that it’s false but it’s made by people with their hidden interests.
