Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party President, Dr. Kizza Besigye says an election in its self cannot liberate a country from bad leadership but rather a process of electing a leader into office.

He says Uganda is a captive state, an issue that many Ugandans have failed to understand, that is why many think Uganda’s problem is having a bad leader that when replaced all will be well and others think it’s a generational issue that the youth should be handed of power to govern the country.

He revealed this in an interview with one of the local Televisions where he disclosed his readiness to hit the campaign trail but he will only campaign for candidates with a message for liberation.

Besigye as always ever since he revealed a strategy he termed as “Plan B” to cause change in Uganda’s leadership in August, was cagey on what it entails but he says just like in elections, it must be driven by people who understand what they are doing.

Kizza Besigye is a professional medical doctor and a retired military officer who has in the past three general elections held the FDC flag in unsuccessfully running for the Presidency. He declined the challenge this year paving way for the current party president, Patrick Oboi Amuriat to take on the mantle.
