The Newly elected MP for Oyam North Dr. Eunice Apio has been sworn in this today during Parliament’s plenary session.
The ceremony has been presided over by the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.
Apio who is a Uganda People’s Congress-UPC member beat the NRM candidate, Samuel Engola Okello in the recently concluded Oyam North by-elections by 15,718 against 15,176 votes.
This position fell vacant after the demise of the former MP and State Minister for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, Col. Charles Okello Engola who was shot by his bodyguard UPDF Private Wilson Sabiti who also later shot himself dead on May 2nd 2023.
Meanwhile, the Speaker has congratulated and encouraged Dr. Apio to cooperate with other MPs and booklets of the Ugandan Constitution and Parliament’s Rules of Procedure have been handed to her to follow during her deliberations in Parliament.
