The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo has dropped charges against city real estate businessmen Sulait Semakula and Yusuf Ssemakula who were maliciously arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit last year.

According to the DPP office, both Sulait Semakula the proprietor of Sema Property Consultants and Yusuf Ssemakula were illegally arrested without any evidence pinning them against demolition of a house in Ntinda.

Semakula of Sema Property Consultant was arrested alongside Yusuf Semakula for allegedly destroying the property of a 99-year-old woman Helena Namazzi at Buloli Namugongo- Kira Division, Wakiso district.

After perusing through the file, DPP realized that the two were the rightful owners of the property and their arrest was illegal.

This is not the first time DPP has dropped charges against people who have been arrested by this unit.

It’s now known that the Anti-Corruption Unit is being used by mafias to fight genuine people to tarnish their name.

Recently, President Museveni warned the Head of this unit General Henry Isoke to stop harassing people.

Many complaints have been lodged to the president and DPP about the way the state house Anti Corruption Unit operates.

Recently, the same unit invaded a private property and arrested private security guards who were on duty and fully cleared by Police Headquarters.

Last week, the Minister of Internal Affairs Gen Kahinda Otafiire wrote to the president over a private property located along Old Kira Road requesting him to take action against Gen Isoke.

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit was created to fight corruption in Uganda, but they have failed their mandate and resorted to extortion and arresting innocent people.
