Police have dismissed reports linking the transfer of Hoima District Police Commander, Christopher Katumba Kiggundu to political influence.

Kiggundu was yesterday transferred by the newly appointed Police Human Resource Director Col. Jesse Kamunanwire just few hours to the district woman representative election that is ongoing today.

He was moved to the Environmental Protection Police Unit (EPPU) and replaced by Martin Okoyo, who has been Mubende District Police Commander.

The Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says that the transfer was never attached to the political influence but was a consideration by the Appointment Committee as per the policy framework.

By press time, there has been no serious report about election violence in the ongoing Hoima District Woman Member of Parliamentary by-election.

The seat fell vacant after Hon Tophace Kaahwa Byagira chose to represent the newly created Kikuube district and the stiff competition is between NRM’s Harriet Mugenyi Businge and FDC’s Asinansi Nyakato.
