The Uganda Young Democrats have threatened to hold a peaceful demonstration once government fails to provide legal support to Ugandans working in Arab countries.

For a number of years now, media has been awash with horrific stories of Ugandan girls and women being abused and killed in countries such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Oman.

At a press conference held in Kampala on Thursaday, the leader of the UYD Women’s League Doreen Kaija revealed that many Ugandans have been mistreated in Middle East but government has never showed any response to control the problem that is due to failure to have a national plan to provide employment opportunities to Ugandans.

She also faulted the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social development for failing to sensitize Ugandans on who is mandated under the law as a company or groups of individuals to take Ugandans for greener pastures.

She further explains that opportunists have taken advantage of silencing the law to cheat Ugandans’ money between Ushs2 to 6 million to get a job.
