The Democratic Party –DP challenges parliament for focusing on minor issues of censuring some of the honorable members instead of amending the price control Act to regulate sky rocketing prices of general commodities.

On 8th February parliament led by the leader of opposition in parliament Mathias Mpuuga filed a notice to censure the minister of Security Gen Jim Muhwezi over the rising number of cases of people being abducted and tortured by state operatives although they failed to realized the required number of signatures only 88 were secured out of the required 176 signatures.

In the same time Parliament went ahead and censured the Mityana Municipality Member of parliament Francis Zaake for alleged offensive communication against Deputy Speaker Anita Among in a motion spearheaded by Bardege Layibi Division MP Ojala Mapenduzi .

Speaking to journalists at DP headquarters at City House in Kampala, the party spokesman Opio Okoler says it’s unfortunate for the honorable members of parliament to engage in issues of censuring their fellow members a minor issue that could be solved through dialogue and left Ugandans suffering over exorbitant prices of commodities.

Meanwhile Okoler encouraged the members of parliament not to rejoice of what is going on with censuring their fellow members saying it’s a way of setting a bad precedent to the coming government.
