Members of Parliament from the Democratic Party (DP) together with DP Bloc leaders and section of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) have called upon their President General Norbert Mao to order as they announced a countrywide tour to revamp the party.

Addressing a joint press conference in Kampala, the Busiro East MP Medard Lubega Ssegona who read a statement on their behalf revealed that the current crisis is fuelled by unconstitutional and selfish actions by the party president.

The team has also rejected the said suspension of the DP Organizing Secretary Sulaiman Kidandala claiming that the known procedures to suspend a member were not followed and now they call for an urgent key stake holders meeting involving members of NEC, members of the National Council, party elders, all MPs and DP bloc leadership among others.

Ssegona also noted that the ongoing electoral process of issuing of the party cards is invalid and should be halted and an emergency national council should be convened immediately.

When asked about their next cause of action once their demands fall on the deaf ear, Ssegona noted that they don’t want to act in doubts.

Ssegona has once again tasked the president general Norbert Mao to account for the funds within the party.
