Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has expressed the need and support to transform the Commonwealth Association –CPA from a charitable organization to an international body.

Through her social media handle Kadaga says its not right for CPA to operate as an indigenous association registered under United Kingdom which does not benefit member states besides the huge contributions to subscribe to it.

On the recommendations from CPC that was held in Kampala, Kadaga noted that the first resolution is for member states to give opportunities to women to join and participate in political processes but above all Uganda benefited extremely high compared to the accusations of wistful expenditures.

Kadaga has surprised the press when she revealed that she does not know the exact number of vehicles that were procured for the 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference but was waiting for a report from the Clerk to Parliament Jane Kibirige.

Reports indicate that parliament procured 100 vehicles to transport over 1,200 delegates from the different Commonwealth countries supplied by Spear Motors, Kampala Motors Limited and Toyota Uganda Limited to the tune of either 18 billion shillings or 37 billion Shillings.

The vehicles included 6 executive commuter vans, 8 high roof commuter vans, 17 station wagons, 15 minibuses, 3 executive passage vans, 14 Isuzu double cabins, 21 Nissan double cabins, 6 Fortuner station wagons, 4 luxury coaches, 1 executive ambulance, 4 lead cars and 1 back-up car.

Besides the 100 new vehicles, parliament also hired 50 other station wagons from Mercantile Car Rentals Limited to also transport the delegates at 650,000 Shillings for each vehicle.
