The Head of the Statehouse Anti Corruption Unit Col. Edith Nakalema has rallied the public to take another step of arresting the perpetrators and take them to police after capturing them on video torturing children.

She says that as the head of one of the government units fighting criminalities, she is not going to settle watching videos on social media of children tortured and abused, but to help police arrest such perpetrators.

This was during a press conference at the old building of the President’s Office in Kampala where Nakalema was meeting one Rebecca Turihamwe whose one year old son was stolen by his identified as Michael Mugabo alias Samuel Tumwesigye last month.

The boy was stolen on October 17 and Turihamwe reported the case to Bulenga police station in Wakiso district on October 23rd which delayed to respond and later she called the Anti Corruption Statehouse Unit which corresponded with police and recovered the victim last week on November 9 in Kajjansi along Entebbe road from Mugabo’s cousin sister Grace Ampiire and the suspect was arrested.

Nakalema however blamed Ampiire for not reporting the case of receiving a boy from Mugabo to the local leaders and police and also accused Turihamwe for neglect after having taken long to report the case of child theft to police.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson says that after having arrested Mugabo whose case of stealing his own child is now before the Wakiso Magistrates Court, they embarked on investigating whether Ampiire connived with the suspects to steal the boy.
