The budget requirement for the Installation and Consecration of the new Bishop of Kasana Luweero Catholic diocese has been revised from Shs700 million to Shs1.3 billion.

Before, the budget had been put at Shs 700 million but the Chairman of the Budget Committee Erasmus Musisi along with the Diocesan Treasurer Fr. Pontian Ssonko have sought to increase it due to unforeseen requirements hence the need to revise the budget to now Shs1.3 billion.

The changes in the budget have been revealed today and according to our reporter this was one of the items of the agenda which was supposed to be communicated in the press conference that had been planned tomorrow 25th July 2023 but it has been rescheduled to Thursday 27th July 2023 at Kasana Luweero diocesan headquarters.

It’s only two weeks left to the Installation and Consecration date of the 3rd ordinary of Kasana Luweero Diocese, Msgr. Lawrence Mukasa who has been the Vicar General of Kiyinda Mityana diocese as the new bishop of Kasana Luweero diocese on the 5th of August 2023 at the Kasana Luweero diocese.

Fr. Joseph Kakooza Nyanzi administrator Bethany Land Institute in Kasana Luweero who is the chairman organizing committee has instituted 10 committees; among others Liturgy, Protocol, Security, Secretariat, Health, Finance, Catering, Entertainment, Construction, Publicity, Water & Sanitation.

All these preparations are overseen by the diocesan administrator Msgr. Francis Xavier Mpanga.

Kasana Luweero diocese is one of the 19 Catholic dioceses in Uganda erected in 1996.

His Holiness, now Saint Pope John Paul II, announced the erection of Kasana Luweero diocese on 30th November 1996 and officially inaugurated on 1st March 1997 by His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala.

He installed and consecrated the then Msgr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, who served until 2006 following his appointment as the Archbishop of Kampala and in 2008 the diocese got the second Bishop Msgr. Paul Ssemogerere who served until January 2022 when he was also appointed the Archbishop of Kampala succeeding Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga who died in April 2021.
