The Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises –COSASE in parliament has suspended the meeting with the China Communication Construction Company-CCCC that was contracted to expand Entebbe International Airport.

This came after CCCC led by the company’s Managing Director Li-Jino-Heni failed to present proof and documents on how they won the contract.

The committee chaired by the Nakawa West Constituency MP Joel Ssenyonyi also got suspicious that the contractual amount of 200m dollars to expand Entebbe was inflated.

CCCC was contracted to expand, construct a passenger terminal, two cargo centers and refurbish two runways.

In the2015 audit report, the then Auditor General, John Muwanga questioned the process in which Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) awarded the US $ 479m contract for the construction of Kampala-Entebbe Express Highway to the Chinese firm without competitive bidding.
