The Citizens’ Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU) has reminded on government to ensure that electoral reforms that regulate campaign financing in order to make it possible for women to run for elective offices, be put in place.

In their International Women’s Day message, Crispy Kaheru, the CCEDU Coordinator says that they need reforms that rid the country’s elections of violence after having found out that violence in elections mainly affects women and discourages them from participating in electoral processes.

Kaheru further reaffirms CCEDU’s commitment to supporting the elimination of barriers to women participation in political processes especially elections.
