The parliamentary Caucus of Buganda wants money allocated to groups under the Parish Development Model increased from the currently 17 million shillings per parish.

This is after government announced that each beneficiary will receive 1m shillings which the caucus chairperson Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi says is too little.

Addressing journalists at parliament, Kuvumbi said that government should revise the mode of distributing the money by considering the population in each parish instead of the current system.

Government promised to provide 100million shillings per parish in efforts of fostering development in the country and it starting with 17mshs this financial year.

Now Buganda caucus has vowed to petition parliament asking for the temporary suspension of the process for a month and a physical study be done by the caucus and report to parliament.

Furthermore, they also demand for equity and none partisan distribution of the funds and also to include opposition members on the operating committees.
