The Buganda Parliamentary Caucus has called for reforms in the decentralization system to give more powers to local governments for better service delivery.

This was after their strategic meeting aimed at equal power and resource sharing in Parliament chaired by the Caucus Chairman Muhammand Muwanga Kivumbi and attended by all Buganda Region MPs including the leader of opposition.

Addressing journalists at parliament on Tuesday, Kivumbi who is also the Butambala County MP said that the regional government system should be resurrected to help respective regional administration units to resolve their own challenges.

They have also proposed that the government should stipulate a specific tax percentage to be earned by the regions collected from the central government like royalties accrued from natural resources.

The caucus has also resolved to form a leaders’ forum by  January 2023 to advocate for Buganda region interests  more especially on the land where more land evictions are registered by selfish individuals who have even gone ahead to receive freeland titles on Mailo land.

They have also condemned President Yoweri Museveni for promoting sectarianism by allowing other regions benefiting from the land fund and receiving land title leveling Buganda region on massy corruption.
