Members of parliament from Buganda region have started the process of electing their leaders for Buganda Caucus parliamentary group.

The group members are set to meet on Wednesday next week to set rules for the elections on positions which include the chairperson, Vice chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer among others.

Among the members who want to be in the leadership positions of Buganda caucus include; Butambala county MP Muwanga Kivumbi who is to face off with Mukono municipality MP Betty Nambooze for the position of the chairperson, Ntenjeru south MP Patrick Nsanja vying for the post of secretary, Busujju county MP David Kalwanga Lukyamuzi wants to be the Treasurer.

Speaking to journalists at parliament Butambala District woman member of parliament Aisha Kabanda while accompanied by Gomba East member of parliament Godfrey Saazi and Bbale county member of parliament Charles Tebandeke said that they will be looking out on leaders who are ready to resist any forms of corrupt, respect the people of Buganda and defending people to stay on their rightful land

Kabanda asked members of parliament from Buganda across the political divide to express interest in these leadership positions

She added that the previous Buganda parliamentary caucuses were affected by partisan feelings but now they need to have their leadership in place early to prepare their defense against the proposed compulsory land   acquisition bill by government.
