Addressing the Media in Kampala, the Police Spokesperson Asan Kasingye said they are registering record numbers of refugees of all nationalities crossing from Kenya to Uganda seeking for safety.

A contested poll in 2007 led to more than 1,000 death and violence could sweep the country again if the losing party either the incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta or the Opposition Raila Odinga refuses to accept the results.

However, Kasingye says they haven’t received specific threats from Kenya regarding the elections and yesterday alone about 30 Kenyans and Somalis entered Uganda fearing for their lives.

Meanwhile, Police clarified on the reports of the intercepted Toyota Fortuner vehicle in northern Uganda that is believed to have been used by assassins of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)  ICT Manager Chris Msando saying the car is only linked in the death of another Kenyan national Moses Muanji Mtalya.
