The Chairman of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Antony Zziwa has expressed his worry over the rising tendency among Ugandans of getting used with the illegal acts that are happening in the country.

Bishop Zziwa also the ordinary of Kiyinda- Mityana diocese says that people are familiarizing or getting used to cases reported in the media like murders, thefts and homosexuality among other vices which is a risk to this country.

This was while speaking to the pilgrims at Butega, Mityana diocese which is the home of St Matia Mulumba, one of the 22 Catholic Uganda Martyrs.

He says that the country needs strong prayers for God to deliver it from this trend of gun violence where guards are seen murdering their bosses and security officers reported shooting their colleagues and others killing themselves.

Bishop Zziwa further called on the public to pray for pilgrims trekking to have God’s protection so that they don’t get involved in road accidents and don’t get affected with illnesses while on their journeys to the Martyrs shrine Namugongo for 3rd June celebrations.

However, he has appreciated Christians who have contributed towards the grand plan of developing the birth places of the Martyrs from Mityana.

The places include Ttamu, Butega, Nkazebuku and Kiyinda.
