The Bishop of Kasana Luwero Diocese Rt. Rev. Lawrence Mukasa has encouraged Catholics in his jurisdiction to support the incoming bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Luweero, the Rt. Rev. Wilson Kisekka where possible.

Kisekka was consecrated and enthroned last Sunday at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Luweero during a ceremony presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda.

Bishop Mukasa received his new counterpart Bishop Kisekka this morning and held private talks.

Later, Bishop Mukasa led in the celebration of the Chrism Mass at Our Lady of Fatima, Queen of Peace Kasana Cathedral, where he called for cooperation and support to Bishop Kisekka.

This was before all the Catholic Diocesan Priests and the congregation in attendance.

Bishop Kisekka succeeded Bishop Eridard Nsubuga, who retired last year and his consecration ceremony marked the conclusion of a period of interim leadership following conflicts arising from the nullification of Rev. Canon Godfrey Kasana Ssemakula’s election as Bishop.

A section of Anglican Christians has since filed a suit at Luwero High Court Challenging the nullification of Rev. Kasana and the case was forwarded to Principal Judge Flavian Zeija who is yet to dispose of it off.

Despite ongoing legal challenges, Bishop Kisekka’s consecration heralds a new chapter for Luwero Diocese under his leadership.
