The Permanent Secretary of Judiciary Pius Bigirimana says the death of Keith Muhakanizi who has been the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister is a setback to unearthing corruption in the Office.
Appearing sad and shocked, Bigirimana who also served as Permanent Secretary at the OPM said that a few weeks back Muhakanizi called him expressing concern of indiscipline and corrupt officers in the Prime Minister’s office.
He says he had a lot of confidence and hope in Muhakanizi that he was going to fight and end corruption in the OPM due to his fearless and determined administrative skills.
Muhakanizi 64, died on Thursday evening from cancer in a Milan hospital in Italy.
He served as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Secretary to the Treasury from 2013 until 2020 when he was transferred to the OPM.
