The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) has launched week long activities of the 38th Tarehe Sita that will be marked in Kitgum District Acholi region.

The week is marked annually in remembrance of the first attack in which President Museveni alongside other bush war fighters launched the guerrilla war on February 6th 1891.

Launching the week long activities at the Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs Headquarters in Mbuya, the Deputy Speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanya stressed that much has been done by the force which has enabled them keeping Uganda secure and peaceful.

He has however noted that it’s time government focused on issues of fighting corruption, job creation especially in among the youth and other challenges the country is now facing.

Meanwhile the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) General David Muhoozi says that the day gives an opportunity for the army to make public accountability by interacting with locals, engaging in community work, establishing medical camps and renovating a number of schools in Kitgum .

Former CDF who is now the State Minister for Works General Edward Katumba Wamala advised that planted trees in these Tarehe Sita activities are meant to symbolize environmental preservation.
