Thousands of Christians have on this Monday morning flocked Churches to celebrate Christmas which is an annual festival, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.

The day observed on every December 25 amongst the Christian faithful is also extended to non Christians as it forms an integral season of holiday season to all.

While leading a colorful Eucharistic celebration at Sacred Heart Cathedral Lubaga, the Archbishop of Kampala Paul Ssemogerere prayed in thanksgiving to the Lord for his goodness and providence to the people in this year 2023.

He says the Word of God teaches people about love and selfless service for others which is in most cases is compromised due to greed in Uganda that is manifested through unequal treatment to others and corruption.

He further hinted on challenges that are still affecting Ugandans as they celebrate Christmas including land wrangles, accidents, rising transport fares during festive seasons, unfair school fees increment, delayed justices in courts of law among others.

His Grace Ssemogerere has also expressed concern over the war in Gaza Strip and in other holy places saying it’s only the Lord that should raise His hand upon the hearts of those involved so that they end the killings of innocent lives.

Archbishop Ssemogerere hailed and prayed for the faithful who have dedicated their support towards the growth and development of the Catholic Church in Uganda.

The Mass has been attended by the State Minister for Higher Education Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo on behalf of the Central Government and Prince David Wasajja accompanied by the officials to represent the Buganda Kingdom.

Other deginitaries that attended the mass at Lubaga Cathedral were Members of Parliament and opposition politicians among others.
