All is set for the consecration of the newly appointed Kampala Archbishop Rt. Rev. Paul Ssemogerere that is slated on January 25th 2022 at Rubaga Cathedral.

Early this month, the Archdiocesan Chancellor Rev. Fr. Pius Male made the announcement for Archbishop Ssemogerere’s coronation saying the date was chosen by the Archbishop-designate due to its significance in Christianity.

According to the released program this afternoon the Chancellor Kampala Archdiocese Fr. Dr. Pius Male says the function is restricted to only the invited guests who have been issued with special invitation cards intended to control crowd and observance of the SOPs against the spread of Covid-19.

Fr. Male says they expect to be at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Matugga at Lumansi River by 6.30am to receive the Archbishop who will be coming from Kasana – Luwero diocese, and later the convoy will proceed to Rubaga Cathedral where they expect to reach at around 9am.

At the Rubaga Cathedral, the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Luigi Bianco will install the Archbishop before the Eucharistic Celebration that will be led by the Rt. Rev. Ssemogerere as the ordinary of Kampala Archdiocese.

Bishop Ssemogerere 65, formerly the Vicar General of Kampala Archdiocese was appointed Bishop of Kasana Luweero in 2008 replacing Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, the first bishop of the same diocese founded in 1997.

Bishop Ssemogerere will be the fourth Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese after the late Emmanuel Cardinal Kiwanuka Nsubuga, Retired Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala and the late Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.

The Cathedral Church has been refurbished with new television screens mounted in the Church to aid the congregation to follow the function.

Security is heavily deployed and only those with cards and special stickers will access the Cathedral while the rest of the Christians will follow the event from different media platforms.
