The Archbishop of Kampala Paul Ssemogerere has made changes in the office of the Pastoral Coordinator.

The Pastoral Coordinator in a diocese is responsible for overseeing the pastoral activities of the Diocese under the guidance of the bishop.

Fr. Dr. Joseph Sserugga has been relieved of his responsibility as the Pastoral Coordinator and replaced by Fr. Dr. Ambrose Bwangato, a lecturer at St. Mbagga National Major Seminary Ggaba.

Fr. Sserugga has been appointed the Director in the New Office of the Elderly and Grandparents.

The Office of Elderly and Grandparents is new in the Catholic Church created by His Holiness Pope Francis to work on the affairs of elderly who are increasingly becoming neglected in the globalized world.

In the same vein, the new members of the Pastoral Council for the Laity in the Archdiocese who were elected last year have finally taken oath before the Archbishop and the congregation at Lubaga Cathedral to commence their service.

Meanwhile, the Archbishop has led the Chrism Mass celebration in the union with all the priests from the Archdiocese at Lubaga Cathedral where he reminded the priests to renew their commitments and understand their mission based on the scripture in which Jesus Christ said to have come to serve but not to be served.

He also reminded the lay faithful that they too share this responsibility of serving others and evangelizing the world if they are to be the salt and light to others.

Joined by the Pope Nuncio Emeritus Archbishop Augustine Kasujja and Bishop Emeritus of Kotido Diocese Rt. Rev. Philippe Giuseppe he blessed and consecrated the holy oils to be used in celebration of sacraments this liturgical year.

On the same occasion, twenty one candidates stepped forward confirmation to the order of diaconate in August this year.

Letter to the priests renewed their vows and commitment to serve and honour their Ordinary.
