Anti graft Civil Society Organizations in Uganda have joined their voice demanding government to appoint a substantive Inspector General of Government (IGG) to facilitate the fight against corruption in the country.

Addressing a news conference today in Kampala, the Executive Director Action Aid Uganda, Xavier Ejoyi says the abscess of a substantive IGG makes it hard for government to prosecute those found engaging in corruption and continues to fuel the vice.

The term of office for the IGG Irene Mulyagonja expired in July this year leaving a gap in operations aimed at curbing corruption in the country.

Uganda loses over USD.5 million annually to graft which makes it stand at 137 out of 187 most corrupt countries in the world and second in the EAC region.
