The former Forum for Democratic Change leader Dr. Kizza Besigye has been intercepted by police at Mpererwe as he tried to head to his offices at Katonda road in Kampala for the anti-corruption walk.

He had announced along with his people’s government members to walk against corruption from their offices at Katonda road to the Constitutional center.

It is not known how he beat the security that had been deployed at his home and other members like the Lord Mayor in Rubaga not to leave their premises for the parallel event than the one called by President Museveni to walk to Kololo Airstrip to show cause against increased corruption.

Police have used their heavy duty vehicles to tow Besigye’s Vehicle from Mpererwe back to his home. Earlier on the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Patrick Onyango said they were not notified about a parallel walk by Besigye.

On the side of the government President Museveni along with other top government officials have walked from the constitutional square through Kampala road to Kololo Airstrip in the ant- corruption walk organised by the state house ant-corruption unit headed by Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema a campaign that has paralyzed traffic.

Most of the roads were closed to the event and motorists had to use alternative roads to their destinations.

However at Kololo Airstrip President Museveni has condemned corruption describing it as a parasite that must be stopped by government.

Uganda is ranked in the 149 position among the corrupt nations out of 175 countries, according to the 2018 Corruption Perceptions Index reported by Transparency International. This is a slight improvement from the highest record of 151st position in 2016.
