The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) has unveiled former Serere District Woman Member of Parliament- MP Alice Alaso (third from the left in the picture) as the party candidate for the Serere County by-elections.
The seat fell vacant after the tragic death of Bishop Patrick Okabe, who died alongside his wife Christine Okabe in a car crash along the Mbale-Tirinyi highway on December 19, 2022.
The Electoral Commission set February 23, 2023, as the polling date for the by-election of Member of Parliament of Serere County, in Serere district.
The nomination of candidates will be conducted on February 9 and 10 and will be followed by campaign meetings which will be limited to only nine days from February 13 to February 21, 2023.
Addressing the media at Speke hotel in Kampala, the party’s National election mobilizer Winnie Kiiza explained Alaso as the best candidate for Serere County given her experience and rich knowledge about legislation.
She however promised her voters of what Alaso is capable of doing for the constituency and country.
The Principal of ANT, Gen Mugisha Muntu has asked the residents of Serere County to be brave and support change seeking forces.
