Airtel Uganda has partnered with Buganda Kingdom to conduct the 2023 Bika Football and Netball Cup Tournaments.

The tournament will kick off on Saturday, 13th May 2023 with the Ngabi-Nsamba Clan taking on the Nkima Clan at Wankulukuku stadium and the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II will officially open the tournament.

Just like the previous edition, the 18 Buganda Kingdom counties have been pair in three groups that will comprise of six teams.

The two teams in each group will prevail to the knockout stage and will be joined by the best two third placed teams.

Defending champions Busiro are in Muganzirwaza group alongside record winners Gomba, three time champions Mawokota Ssese, Mawogola and Kabula.

Last year’s runners up Buddu are in Masengere group alongside Buwekula, Kyagge, Kyadondo, Buluuli and Kooki.

Two time winners Ssingo are in Bulange group with Bulemeezi, Butambala, buvuma, Bugerere and Busujju.

Commenting about the sponsorship, Ali Balunywa the Airtel Sales and Distribution Director said that this year, Airtel will contribute financial and in-kind sponsorship towards the tournament and he believes this will go a long way in aiding the preparation of all the planned activities that will see the tournament register the anticipated success.

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga while officiating at the launch of the tournaments at Bulange Mengo said that sports contributes to good health hence the reason the Kabaka is advocating for its development.
