Airtel Uganda, one of the leading Telecommunication Companies has introduced 5G technology operations in the Country.

5G is the fifth generation mobile network enabling a new kind of connectivity, instantly like virtual connection of groups, machines, objects, and devices at very high speed.

While announcing the new development at Sheraton hotel Kampala on Thursday, the Managing Director of Airtel – Uganda, Manoj Murali said that 5G can support a significantly higher number of devices per square kilometre compared to the existing 4G technologies.

Manoj  adds that 5G is  the suitable network over which remote teams can collaborate to undertake tasks like surgery, shared online school classes, farmers can share live video farming tips, engineering tasks over video and stream gaming and other entertainment experiences.

Manoj revealed, the company has successfully tested the five 5G network within 50 sites across the central Uganda mainly Kampala including areas such as Industrial area, Garden City Area, Upper Kololo, Clement Hill, Hannington Road, Lower airstrip Kololo kirala Munyonyo and Wampewo Avenue among others

He said customers with 5G compatible devices can now enjoy the 5G experience using their existing 4G SIM Cards and All other Airtel sites across the country have been configured and are ready for deployment once the spectrum has been allocated.
