The Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has cautioned the public to be careful when visiting any health centre for treatment due to increasing alleged cases of trafficking of human organs.

This comes after an alleged removal of a left Kidney of one Muhammed Kabanda, aged 25 years while at Old Kampala Hospital where he had gone for accident treatment after sustaining head injuries and on discharge he discovered some stitches on his stomach and when he sought investigations with a CT scan from three different hospitals it was confirmed that his left kidney was removed.

Kabanda says that he has delivered several complaints to Dr. Alex Mugalu who worked on him but he has been referred for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging –MRI scan with no headway.

He is now experiencing body weakness and changes that have made him uncomfortable.

Lukwago now says that through his legal chamber Lukwago and Company Advocate, they have filed a criminal case at old Kampala Police Station and they are to file a civil case to courts of law against Dr Mugalu and Old Kampala Hospital.

He adds that this is the third case he is handling but unfortunately when he tries to liaise with the public offices such matters are taken lightly.

The Acting Medical Director for Old Kampala Hospital, Dr Faizal Kazibwe admitted to have registered the kidney removal complaint and they are investigating it.
