Police in Kampala has amended the charged sheet from assault to murder against a bouncer Muhammad Lubega who is alleged to have been behind the death of a city lawyer Tony Ngobi.

It is reported that Kampala Lawyer Tony Ngobi Kanalo succumbed to a stroke at Mengo Hospital on Sunday as a result of a bar brawl that happened on Wednesday at T. 1 Bar and Lounge in Mengo at around 1am.

According to police, Ngobi is said to have got into a confrontation with the security guard also a bouncer Muhammad Lubega at the bar who later pushed the him, forcing him to land awkwardly head first on the ground and damaged his brain.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson in Kampala Metropolitan says that Lubega had earlier been charged of assault but after the death of Ngobi, he is now facing murder charges and his file is to be sent to the Resident City Attorney for advice.

However, the proprietor and the revelers who were at the bar on that particular day are on wanted list for flaunting the curfew hours and defying the presidential Covid19 restrictions.

It should be noted that President Museveni has consistently pronounced himself on the closure of bars and discos, citing that revelers are ungovernable in regard to Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures -SOPs.
