At least 98 Members of Parliament in the coming 11th parliament are at risk of not having offices to operate from.

This was after the parliamentary Legal committee noted that with the increased number of MPs in the 11th parliament from 457 to 555 in the 2021/26 parliament that is starting operation in May this year, won’t be able to be accommodated in the current champers and Boman house along parliamentary avenue.

Now, the chairperson of the committee on Legal Jacob Oboth recommended for additional money of 1bn to enable parliament hire office space for the Mps as they await the completion of the new champers which is under construction that is expected to be complete in 2 years time.

However, his proposal caused controversy in the committee on whether they should or shouldn’t rent office space.
