Traffic Police has released a report for a week between 1st and 8th of January 2023 indicating 79 people died in at least 340 road crashes that occurred across the country.

 

According to the report, among the accidents that occurred last week, 59 were fatal, 175 were serious while 206 were minor which left 205 victims with serious injuries.

 

Addressing the media at Naguru, Nampiima attributed the major cause of accidents to reckless driving, driving vehicles which are Dangerous Mechanical Condition and over speeding among others.

 

Nampiima also revealed that during that period, a total of 9580 traffic offenders were arrested for various traffic offenses and were issued with Express Penalty Scheme-EPS tickets.
