Over 500 Ugandans directly employed in the dairy industry risk losing jobs due to the continued ban of Ugandan milk in Kenya.

Since 1st April 2023 Uganda has not exported milk to Kenya due to the ban imposed on Uganda’s milk over unclear reasons.

This has been revealed to the press by the chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) doubling as the Patron of the Uganda Clearing and Forward Association (UCFA) Captain Mike Mukula highlighting that over 80 permits are pending in the kentrade system.

He says the continued ban has dropped milk prices in the country to 70% which affects the common producer country wide saying a litre of milk has reduced from Sh1500 to Sh550.

Mukula now calls upon president Museveni, parliament, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of East African Affairs  to intervene in this matter because its impact is going to be heavy on the country.

Earlier this year Kenyan officials met President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at statehouse Entebbe and assured him that Uganda’s products will never be banned on the Kenyan market and now wonders why this is happening.
