Traffic Police have indicated that at least 32 pedestrians perished in the 443 accidents that occurred last week across the country.

 

According to the weekly traffic report recorded from 23rd to 29th of October 2023, a total of 401 victims involved in these accidents with 63 died and 338 sustained injuries.

 

Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police Spokesperson says that among the fatalities in these road accidents, 25 involved motorcycles of which 8 were passengers on motorcycles and 17 riders.

 

Kananura says that the causes of these accidents remained the same with over taking contributing to 115 cases and speeding causing 93 cases.

 

 

However, Kananura says their traffic operations like Fika Salama Extra will remain on the road to ensure accidents are avoided.
