The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) have removed a total of 238 boda boda stages in both Kampala Central and Makindye divisions ahead of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77 plus China Summits.

 

Over 100 countries have confirmed their participation in the high-profile international events.

 

G77 Summit is a significant gathering that brings together representatives from over 100 developing countries to discuss and collaborate on economic and development issues.

 

During the security media briefing at Police headquarters Naguru today, the KCCA Spokesperson Daniel Nuwabiine noted that the removed stages which are 48 in Central and 190 in Makindye division are from the routes designed for the dignitaries expected to attend the summits.

 

He says that in the Central division, boda boda stages have been eliminated from 14 streets include Parliamentary avenue, Upper Kololo Terrace, Access road and Sayid Bhale road while in Makindye, 12 roads have been affected like Hanron, Ggaba, Prince Badru Kakunguru, Muyenga and Mbogi roads.

 

Meanwhile, Nuwabiine emphasized that after the summits boda boda operation in Kampala will be streamlined with only 425 stages and 25,946 riders allowed to operate from the current 51,893 operating.
