13 police officers who were part of the security task team that raided the home of the Muslim Tabligh Community Leader Sheik Yunus Kamoga have been suspended.

This follows the video clip that went viral on social media showing some police officers mistreating and assaulting the people they found in Sheikh Kamoga’s home and a Rehabilitation Center at Kawempe Tula in Kawempe division.

Last Week, Police stated that the raid done by Security task teams of Chieftaincy Military Intelligence (CMI), JATT and police officers at Sheikh Yunus Kamoga’s home was found in Kawempe Ttula after some complaints by some parents that their children were confined in this rehabilitation home illegally.

Fred Enanga the police spokesperson says that the 13 police officers who showed unprofessionalism have been suspended and are waiting to be charged in the Police Disciplinary court on Wednesday of this week.

But Enanga clarifies that the raid at Sheikh Kamoga’s home isn’t a witch-hunt of Muslims but it is aimed at fighting terrorism acts and the preliminary findings established that majority of the 45 children recovered from the rehabilitation center have no clear documentation and are from Rwanda and DR Congo.

Enanga says some of the Children were even confined in Sheik Kamoga’s home without the consent of their parents.
