The Uganda Revenue Authority- URA expects by June 1st, 2022 to have in place taxation policies on commercial transactions conducted electronically on the internet like on social media.

 

John Musinguzi, the URA Commissioner General says they have already submitted their policy measures to the Finance Ministry with expectation that the policies are passed by Parliament and enforced in the next financial year 2022-2023.

 

This was during the two days 10th annual Taxation training for Justices of the High Court and Members of the Tax Appeals Tribunal today at Serena Kigo today that has been opened by the Justice Flavian Zeija, the Principal Judge of Uganda under the theme; Developments in Tax law, Policy and Administration, Delivering Uganda to Economic Independence..

 

Musinguzi further calls upon the judiciary together with the and the Tax Appeals Tribunal to dispose off the backlog of 350 tax cases valuing over 1.2trillion shillings for this money to be injected into the country’s economy,

 

In his response, Justice Flavian Zeija, the Principal Judge of Uganda, said that they are to ensure cases related to URA are prioritized in court so that they are disposed off and have the money circulated into the economy.
