The Uganda National Forestry Authority (UNFA) has embarked on restoration of the green environment to save Uganda from global warming.

 

Addressing the Journalists at National Forestry Authority (NFA) offices in Bugoloobi ,Tom Okello Odongo the Executive Director of NFA said that currently the Forestry cover in Uganda stands at 13% but they want to increase it to 25% by 2025 but this needs a collective effort from NGOs , Private sector among others such that they invest in restoring environment.

 

Odongo adds that NFA has done everything possible to make sure that the environment is saved through its stringent laws but they are also employing the use of technology in patrolling the Forests as well as investing in mind set change on Forest restoration.

 

He has disclosed that the world is in negotiation for climate mitigation and currently the meeting of subsidiary bodies of implementation under the United Nations framework Convention for climate change is taking place in Germany trying to see how the world should reduce global temperature and maintain the global target of addressing the issues of climate change.

 

He called upon Ugandans to be vigilant about the environment to save the world from global warming.
